Villanelle for Weary Seafarers.

And with a constant love swells the sky for the sea
sails further than would go plain sight –
in its untiring wait to meet, become an infinity;

futile barriers to a mingling monochrome beauty –
wings of the seagulls, picket-fence white,
and with a constant love swells the sky for the sea;

it clatters and trembles, fumbles in adversity
with oceanic likeness that the cirri hide –
in its untiring wait to meet, become an infinity;

fish-eyes tip wave-crests with igneous lucidity –
glimmering Poseidon’s swords of daylight,
and with a constant love swells the sky for the sea;

a skein of phosphenes of the fireball variety
lines the besotted aerial eyelid at night –
in its untiring wait to meet, become an infinity

brave rocks daily, bear their love child Salinity
in pieces, morbid sardines glow bright,
and with a constant love swells the sky for the sea
in its untiring wait to meet, become an infinity.
